On Monday 19th March Year 3 welcomed Mrs Canham into the class. She told us all about her work as a nutritionist and it was a great way for the class to see how important their science learning has been. They knew all about the different food groups she mentioned (eg carbohydrate, protein and fat) and using the food plate diagram they were able to discuss how food is not "good" or "bad" but the PROPORTION we eat of different food is the important thing.
It was brilliant to have a parent come in and link their work to our studies. If any other parent would like to come in and show how our learning in school and their work is connected, please let Miss Mudd know as she is compiling information about the skills/jobs/experience of work in the parent body with a view to having a Jobs Fair later in the year.
We had a very busy week carrying out different experiments every day! We found out about static electricity, how water can walk, made elephant toothpaste slime, made jelly eggs. We finished the week with a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) challenge to build a house for the three little pigs that would blow down using only wooden sticks and gum drops!
Each class shared with the rest of the school their science learning from the week. Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend this.
