Reception

Hello everyone!

Just a little note to say that I will continue to upload activities and games that you can play at home and a lot of what is being uploaded is what we are doing in school too.

However if you wish to top up the activities then please follow the links to some really good websites.

The first is the Oak National Academy, the link will take you to the reception area of the website. You can either click on the schedule which has the days lessons set out for you or you can click on subject and pick some yourself.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/year-groups/reception/

Next is BBC Bitesize. Now they do not have a section which is specifically for reception however the children can still watch the KS1 videos and play the games, they just might need some support.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/z3g4d2p

Lastly I have attached the links to the Numberblocks and Alphablocks YouTube pages as they have introduced a Stay at home section on these pages and it goes right back to the beginning so will allow the children to recap their learning.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPlwvN0w4qFSP1FllALB92w - Numberblocks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_qs3c0ehDvZkbiEbOj6Drg - Alphablocks

Hope these are useful, still look out on the class page for daily tasks and please keep sending in what you are doing! I have loved seeing your pictures! Missing you all very much, Love Mrs Goodwin.

Phonics Week 5

Daily phonics activities and ideas to complete at home Daily phonics. I suggest doing phonics either before or after your daily exercise.

Friday 3rd July

Good Morning all! Hope you have had a lovely week.

So to start the day I thought you could practice some of the skills we will be joining on our sports day, I do hope you're planning on joining us!

These are the four activities that we will be doing on the day

•Balancing a book or bean bag or cushion on your head

• Target practice – ball or socks into a bucket

• A pick-up race, 4 objects will be on the floor, how long will it take you to pick them all up and put in a bucket

• Running race

If your still feel energised after your practice you could try workout from GoNoodle a https://app.gonoodle.com/channels/fresh-start-fitness

For some music today why not have a go at making a wind chime?

Follow the link to some DIY wind chimes

https://www.growingajeweledrose.com/2013/04/spring-art-for-kids.html

A really simple idea is to use old CD's that you might have around the house, or using shells that might have been collected over the years.

I have attached the link fore day 5 of Oliver's Vegetables

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Lastly, I would like you to pick one of the activities to do at home

- building a bridge only using playdough and pasta.

- help the floating dinosaur get out of the bucket.

Hope you have a great day and a lovely weekend! Missing you all lots, Love Mrs Goodwin

Thursday 2nd July

Good Morning Reception!

I hope you are all ok?

Why not start the day with some exercise, you could do some yoga or some go noodles.

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

https://app.gonoodle.com/

Followed by day 4 of Maths

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

For Literacy today I would like you to look at some vocabulary. I have attached a separate sheet and it is just like the one you did before just using some new words.

Lastly something a little different today, some of you might have seen these already and done some. There is a very talented man called Rob who is an author and illustrator - can you remember what those words mean? Well he has been drawing the characters from his book and making videos that you can follow, I thought it would be nice for you to draw the sheep!

https://youtu.be/qeecq8-5x5I

Have a lovely day! Love Mrs Goodwin

Wednesday 01/07/20

Hello Reception! Today is the start of a new month, it's the month of July.

I would like you to start the day with some exercise, you can pick what you would like to do.

Maybe a cosmic yoga

youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

Or a Joe wicks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some Maths, day 3 of Oliver's Vegetables

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Why no have a go at counting by 2's today as well

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wwydguSKOU

For some Literacy today I would like you to write some descriptive sentences about your snuggly snerd that you painted the other day(if you haven't painted one yet, why not draw one and then write some sentences). Can you tell me all about your snuggly snerd, think about what colour you have made it and how many legs you have given it, have you given yours a tail?

Lastly I would like you to be those fantastic detectives I know you can be and find out some information for me. Have a look at Jimmy's farm - this is where we would have been going on our school trip this year! See what animals he has living on his farm, which animal would you want to see and why?

https://jimmysfarm.com/animals/

Have a fantastic day everyone! Love Mrs Goodwin

Tuesday 30/06/20

Good Morning everyone, I hope you are all ok?

Why not start the day with some yoga

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

For maths today I would like you to do the second day of Oliver's Vegetables

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Followed by the number bond song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD9tjBUiXs0

Followed by some literacy. Today I would like you to write a different ending to the story of What the Ladybird Heard Next! Think about what would have happened if Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len had gotten away! I have attached a sheet explaining what to do.smiley

Lastly we have looked at both types of farming and now I want us to think about where our food comes from. Use the powerpoint as a place to begin discussions about foods and where they come from. Then ask your child about their favourite food, can they become a detective and find out where their favourite food comes from, maybe it grows under ground, maybe it comes from a different country. Write down all the facts you find out about your favourite food!

Have a lovely day all, missing you lots, Love Mrs Goodwin

Monday 29th June

Hello Reception! I hope you had a lovely weekend!

Firstly I would like you to start your day with some exercise

Followed by some Maths, this weeks story is Oliver's Vegetables

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Followed by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TgLtF3PMOc count to 100.

Followed by some Literacy, today I would like you write some thought bubbles for what the animals are thinking in this scene. You could write as either the duck, the goose or the hen, or all three if you think they would all think differently! Do you think they think that Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len are being silly, do you think they hope they get lost in the heap of muck?

Lastly I would like you to paint or draw your own snuggly snerd. Maybe your snuggly snerd has 6 legs, blue feathers, a purple beak, maybe it's eggs are the size of 2 rugby balls put together! I can't wait to see what your snuggly snerd looks like!

Have a fantastic day and send me any pictures of what you do! Love Mrs Goodwin

Friday 26th June

Happy Friday Reception! Can you believe we have made it to the end of another week!

For PE today, I have found some new videos from the School Games YouTube. They are called Play Formats. There are some that you need a team for but lots that you could alter for home learning.

youtube.com/playlist?list=PLX9GnyQdxaf5NUXnlP-PCQ4ssc2tjnRUr&safe=true

Why not try a couple of these games for your PE today. They also have skills such as throwing and catching, which we will be using on our sports day!

For some music today

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Lastly to finish off our week I would like you to fill in a kindness Jar. It is a little like the gratitude jar you have filled in already.

I thought it linked nicely to our RE when we looked at those who helped the church as an act of kindness, and to yesterday when some of the children in school said that love is being kind.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend whatever your plans and speak on Monday! Love Mrs Goodwin

Thursday 25th June.

Hello Reception, it's very warm isn't it! I hope you have all been able to enjoy some of this fabulous weather!

So today why not try some cosmic yoga, in school we really enjoyed the farm video the other day!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKmRB2Z3g2s

Followed by some Maths, today I would like you to start by counting to 100

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TgLtF3PMOc&disable_polymer=true

and then Day 3 of Zog

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

I hope you enjoyed the video yesterday, Mrs Goodwin has got some more coming over the next couple of weeks so do keep an eye out for them!

For Literacy today I would like you to make a missing poster for the hen's speckled eggs! I have attached a sheet if you wish to use it.

Lastly linking to RE this week and to think about RSE Day today I would like you to look at some stories which celebrate love! I have popped some links to some stories that you can watch online, but you might have some at home that are all about love.

After listening or reading some stories I would like you to complete the sentence 'Love is.....'

Maybe you could draw a big love heart and write it in the middle.

Another activity you could do to spread/share some love is to write a card or make a picture and send it to some one special. Maybe you could explain why they are special to you, maybe they play with you or make you laugh!

With all this in mind I would just like to say that I'm missing your children very much and I'm looking forward to seeing them soon - even if it is virtually! Also a massive thank you for all the photos you have sent in and the updates! You are all in my thoughts, have a fabulous day, Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all ok and doing well!

So I do believe that Mr Wicks is back doing his workout today so you might want to start the day with him getting active.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by day 3 of Zog Maths

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

For Literacy today, there is a new story we will be looking at over the next few days. It still has our friend the ladybird in and all the other animals from the farm. I hope you enjoy the video! After watching the video talk about the similarities and differences between this book and the original story. Which one do you like better?

Lastly a couple of activities for the afternoon

- R.E activity

- Today at school we will be making some bubble art, using bubble mixture and food colouring.

Mix them together in a bowl, grab a bubble wand, if you don't have one but have some pipe cleaners you can make your own with a pipe cleaner. If you don't have any bubble mixture you can use watered down washing up liquid. Then get a big piece of paper and blow the bubbles on to the paper.

Hope you have a lovely day, missing you all, Love Mrs Goodwin

So to start today I would like you to either do some GoNoodles or some Cosmic Yoga

www.gonoodle.com

For Literacy today I would like you to read the sentences and work out if they are true or false. Your grown up might have to help you with some of the words, but have a good go and see if you can sound them out first!

P.S. Look out tomorrow - new videos coming!

Lastly another R.E activity for you to complete today. Today we are talking about how the church building is a holy place where we can all pray and are all welcome. I know we are in a strange time at the moment and going to church hasn't been allowed but encourage the children to think back to when it was, think about how we behave in church and how we can show respect.

Have a lovely day, hope you all get a chance to get out in the lovely weather again today!

Missing you all lots, Love Mrs Goodwin

Monday 22nd June

Good Morning Reception! I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy some time together!

So to start the week some PE with Joe Wicks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some Maths, this week it is using the story of Zog, which I know is a class favourite!

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Day-1-Zog.pdf

For Literacy today I would like you to look at the pictures of the animals from the story and think about ways you could describe them. Think about the size of the animal, the colour, how many legs they have, have they got a tail? Pick 3 animals and write a short caption for each picture (you can pick more than 3 if you want to).

Lastly some R.E, this half term we would have been looking at The Church. Each day this week there will be an activity looking at this. Click on the links below for today's activity.

Hope you have a lovely day and please keep sending in photos either via the ILD or the school admin email!

Love Mrs Goodwin

Phonics Summer 2 Week 3

Friday 19th June.

Happy Friday everyone! I honestly can't believe how quickly this week has gone! I hope you are all doing well?

So as it's Friday lets start the say with getting active! You could do one of these to get active or maybe you could create an obstacle course. Find somethings to balance on, jump off or over, a ball to throw, and something you can crawl under. This is what we will be doing in P.E today, so send me pictures if you do make any!

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga - Cosmic Yoga

www.gonoodle.com - GoNoodle

Music today

On Out of the Ark, there is a song called all about minibeasts, it's in the section a song for every subject. I thought this might be nice to sing or listen too as we have been writing our ladybird fact files.

https://www.outoftheark.co.uk/ootam-at-home/?utm_source=homepage&utm_campaign=ootamathomead2&utm_medium=homead

Or you could have a go on the chrome music lab

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Experiments

Lastly some a couple of science activities to end the week with

- At school we have been doing lots of planting and growing in the garden, if you have any seeds why not plant them up. A great way for children to see the whole growing process including the roots is to use a see through plastic bag. I have attach a sheet which tells you what you will need.

- Rain in a jar! The children at school yesterday we very excited to go out in the rain and we all put on wellies and found the biggest puddles to jump in. Which got us talking about the clouds and rain, so this experiment lets the children create the clouds (shaving foam) and play around with the rain (coloured water) until it breaks through the clouds.

These two activities link well to our topic especially after learning about Arabel farming.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned! Please keep sending in what the children have been getting up to at home, I love to see what they are doing!

Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

On the activity Pastoral which is all about raising animals is called livestock farming.

Hope you have a great day and manage to get outside, maybe you could build your own farm and create a cunning plan just like Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len!

Missing you all, Love Mrs Goodwin

Monday 15th June

Good Morning everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend, it was lovely to have the sun back and be able to enjoy some of that lovely sunshine! This week I will be putting up some extra challenges/activities if you wish to do them smiley

For Literacy this week, I would love you to create a ladybird fact file. Using the research you did on Friday, I want you to write one fact a day so by the end of this Friday you will have 5 facts about ladybirds in your fact file! I have attached a sheet you can use to help you or you can make your own. You can also draw a picture for every fact you write about. I can't wait to see your fact files, we will be making these in school this week too so I will post pictures of the children's so you can see these. smiley

I have put the fact documents below today as well.

Lastly you have already looked at pastoral farms - where animals live. Today I would like you to learn about arable farms. What do they grow on arable farms? Can you do some research and find out for me? Soon you will be farm detectives with all this research work you are doing!

How fruit is grown and picked.

An extra activity, read/watch the story of the Little Red Hen, talk about what the hen finds at the start of the story - which farm would you find this on? If you have the ingredients you could even make some bread.

I hope you have a lovely day, I can't wait to see what facts you come up with!

 Speak tomorrow, love Mrs Goodwin

Phonics Week 2

List of phonics games that you can either follow straight done, so for example do the first one in the table on Monday, the second on Tuesday etc. Or feel free to mix them up, or play other games that you know your child enjoys for phonics.

Friday 12th June

Good Morning everyone! I hope you are all doing ok? We have made it to the end of the week!

To start why not get moving either try Joe Wicks

or some Cosmic Yoga

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

For music today

- If you made a shaker last week why not use it to come up with a little song and if you haven't made one yet maybe you could today?

- Following this link will take you to the sing up website https://www.singup.org/singupathome/songs-for-learning/4-7

You could do the Hey little frog which is about life cycles, or There was an old lady who swallowed a fly. They have the lyrics and the backing track for you to follow along with. If you want them to sing with you click on the performance track smiley

Lastly, Reception I need you to become ladybird detectives today, could you do that for me please?

I need you to learn lots of facts about ladybirds as we will be using them in our literacy next week, I have attached a couple of things for you to look at, but maybe you could do your own research. Maybe you have a book with lots of facts in about minibeasts, maybe you could, with the help of your grown up look up some facts online?

Become a detective and make sure you keep all your facts handy for Monday!

Hope you have a lovely day and that you have a wonderful weekend! Speak on Monday, Love Mrs Goodwin

Thursday 11th June.

Good morning Reception! Where has the sun gone? sad I hope you are managing to get some fresh air, at school yesterday we were doing one of our favourite raining day activities by painting the garden with our powder paint! Anyway I do hope you are all ok!

Lets start with a work out

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by day four of the maths this week

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Day-4-The-Princess-and-the-Wizard.pdf

Today's learning is all about making spells!

For literacy I would love for you to write me a short retelling of What the Ladybird heard. When we retell the story it's important to start from the beginning, make sure we have the middle and of course the end of the story! I have attached a sheet for you or you can make your own. I can't wait to see your wonderful drawings and writing!

Lastly a couple of activities to keep you busy

- Pick an activity from the What the Ladybird heard home learning challenge sheet.

- So we have learnt about some of the animals that might live on a farm and their homes on the farm. Today I thought you could look at a vehicle that they might use on the farm, watch the videos and see if you can remember anything new you might have learnt about this vehicle.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybMMkOSob30

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUpd9f2RBl8

The second link is a story book.

I wonder if you can make your one of your very own? Maybe you could make it out of recycling?

Have a fabulous day, let me know what you get up to! Missing you all, Love Mrs Goodwin

Wednesday 10th June

Good Morning all! Middle of the week already?

Let's start with a bit of Joe

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Day-3-The-Princess-and-the-Wizard.pdf

For Literacy today there are a couple of activities that you can do

- Activity one; match the rhyming words to each other.

- Activity two; missing word sentences (sequencing the story).

I have attached the sheets below for you to use smiley

Lastly a couple pf activities for you to have a go at;

- Draw or paint your favourite farm animal, do you know any facts about your favourite farm animal? If not why not try to find out 3 facts about your animal. Can you tell your grown up your facts, or write them down.

- Make some peg farmyard animals to role play with. Either print out the sheet or draw your own and then attach pegs for legs.

Hope you have a lovely Wednesday! Love Mrs Goodwin

Tuesday 9th June

Good Morning everyone, I hope you had a lovely Monday? Mrs Goodwin had to get her big coat back out again, where has the sun gone?

Start the day with getting moving

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Day-2-The-Princess-and-the-Wizard.pdf

For some Literacy today I would like you to think about how the animals feel when the ladybird tells them about Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len and their cunning plan. Use the sheet and write down how the animals are feeling.

Lastly, yesterday you looked at the animals that live on a farm - did you learn anything new?

Today I want you to look at the animal homes on the farm. Have a look at the power point and have a think are the animal homes the same as ours? Have they got a door and windows? Is there a kitchen in their home? Talk to your grown up about any similarities and differences there are.

Once you've done this why not make one of the animals homes, you could make it out of things you can find around the house, Lego/bricks, you could go outside and use sticks/leaves or draw a picture of the different homes.

Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday! Love Mrs Goodwin

Monday 8th June

Good Morning Reception, I hope you are all ok!

The activities I will be putting up will be mostly what we are doing back in school but some will be different. Keep sending me what you are doing at home though as I've loved seeing what you've been getting up to!

For starters I would like you to get moving with Mr Wicks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Some phonics, follow the plans above. You can follow the table down, day by day or you can pick and chose which game you play on which day smiley

Following this, some maths, a new week and a new story

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Day-1-The-Princess-and-the-Wizard.pdf

Today's focus is the days of the week, the link below will take you to a song to remember them

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXMofxtDPUQ&vl=en

For some Literacy today I would like you to make a wanted poster for either Hefty Hugh or Lanky Len.

Lastly I would like you to look at the farm animal power point and read or listen to the facts about the different animals. After you have done this you can either write done some of the facts you have learnt, or you can take the 'What am I animal quiz' or you can do both smiley

Hope you have a fabulous day, Love Mrs Goodwin

Friday 5th June

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe we have already made it to the end of Week 1?

I hope you have all had a good week.

Activities for today

Why not start with a yoga workout

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

Some music ideas today

- In class we will be making our own shakers, using decorated cups and putting dried rice inside. Why not have a go at making one at home too! I'll pop some pictures up to give you an idea, maybe you could use bottles if you don't have any cups.

- Follow the link for the Out of Ark songs

https://www.outoftheark.co.uk/ootam-at-home/?utm_source=homepage&utm_campaign=ootamathome2&utm_medium=banner

Lastly I wonder if you can make the farm from what the ladybird heard? You could use Lego, bricks, you could draw/paint it - use whatever you have! Remember all the areas that are mentioned in the story, the pond, the fine prize cows shed etc. You could label it up for me using your sounds to tell me which areas you have put it and which animals live on the farm, (don't forget the ladybird!)

Have a great day and a fabulous weekend, Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

DIY music shakers

Thursday 4th July

Good morning everyone!

Lets start the day with PE with Joe

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some Maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-4-The-Snail-and-the-Whale.pdf

For Literacy today, if you haven't already you can watch the video I uploaded which is under Tuesday's work, or read the story to where the robbers crept into the farm. Think about the word crept, what does it mean? Can you creep around the house? Can you think of any other words for crept? What other ways could you silently move around if you wanted to steal a fine prize cow?

A couple of activities you could do this afternoon

- Make a stained glass ladybird

- Take a virtual tour of a farm http://www.virtualfarmwalk.org/walk.html find out all about farming and see what happens daily.

Hope you have a great day, Love Mrs Goodwin

Picture 1 Use tissue/lightweight coloured paper :)

Wednesday 3rd June

Good Morning Reception!

Lets start the day with Mr Wicks again

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some Maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-3-The-Snail-and-the-Whale.pdf

For Literacy today I would like you to do some reading by sorting out the jumbled sentences. Make sure you get the right animal and the right sound! I have attached a sheet below smiley

A couple of extra activities for today

- Our new topic is all about farms and farm animals so I thought it might be nice to look at matching baby animals to their mothers. Encourage the children to read the names of the animals and their young.

- Action for happiness have released a poster called 'Joyful June' 30 activities to encourage well being during this time. I know I'm a couple of days late with it but you could always do day 1 and 2 at another time smiley

Have a fabulous day, Love Mrs Goodwin

Tuesday 2nd June

Good Morning all! Hope you are all well?

Lets start the day with some Joe Wicks

Followed by some maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-2-The-Snail-and-the-Whale.pdf

For Literacy today - Mrs Goodwin is very sorry, she does have another video of reading the story but it seems to be taking a long time to upload - hopefully by the end of the day!

If you are unfamiliar with our new story 'What the Ladybird Heard' you can watch it here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu9mPX7DuLA

I would like you to listen/read the story and think about how the ladybird felt when she helped the other animals. Do you think she felt scared or was frightened by the men? Do you think she was brave or do you think she shouldn't have told the animals?

Lastly I would love for you to make your own ladybird, now it could be painting/drawing/collage with materials around the house. Take a picture though and send me your beautiful creations!

Don't forget about the 30 Days Wild information from yesterday! smiley

Have a fabulous day, Love Mrs Goodwin

Hello all, hope you all had a great half term and managed to enjoy some of the wonderful weather we were lucky to have! Myself and Mr Goodwin enjoyed a trip to the beach, what did you get up to?

I'm excited to be back in school this week and am looking forward to seeing some of you, those who I wont see, please continue to send photos and emails so I know that you are doing ok and I do love to see what you have been getting up to!

So to start our new week we are going to continue with Mr Wicks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some maths from White Rose, this week its using the story The Snail and the Whale.

For Literacy, we have a new book which I will be introducing you to tomorrow... (watch this space)

But for today I though I would give you a clue as to what our new story is going to be, read the clues out with your grown up and see if you can guess the story!

Lastly June is 30 Days wild month so I have attached a link to 30 random acts of wildness you can do throughout the month of June, and the 30 days wild bingo!

Link for the random acts

Below I have attached a home learning challenge sheet for the topic of Traditional Tales.

You can pick to do an activity from this sheet at anytime, I thought it might give you some extra ideas for things to do on maybe a rainy day. smiley

I have also attached a 30 Lego Challenge, I've seen a few around so if you have already started one, fabulous! Some of the creations on this one relate to the topics we have already done in class.

Please send in any photos of your creations!

Phonics

For this weeks phonics I have attached a number of different games you can play with your children, feel free to use games we have used from previous weeks if there is one you and your child enjoyed playing!

The games this week range from rhyming words to phase 4 tricky words. Continue to practice letter formation and any sounds that your child may be struggling with.

Remember to have fun with phonics!smiley

Friday 22nd May

Good Morning Reception!

We have made it to Friday, which means today is the last day of home learning for this half term, you have done an amazing job and I'm super proud of all the hard work you have done whilst being at home!

So lets start the day with some yoga,

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

Followed by some music activities

This link below will take you to Out of the Ark, they have changed their layout slightly and now have a section called just for fun, why not try one of these songs?

https://www.outoftheark.co.uk/ootam-at-home/?utm_source=homepage&utm_campaign=ootamathome2&utm_medium=banner#wellbeing

I have also popped the link to the chrome music lab as I know some of you enjoyed using this last week.

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Experiments

This is the last day of Superworm maths if you fancy it,

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-5-Superworm.pdf

If we had been in school this week the plan was to have a tea party today to celebrate Goldilocks birthday. The children would have made invites, decorations, food and we would have had some party games. So why not have your own tea party today to celebrate getting to the end of week, the end of home learning for the half term, just to celebrate the fact it is Friday!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and a fabulous half term, I hope you are all able to get some sort of rest and hopefully we will have some more wonderful weather to enjoy!

Thank you for all the emails and photos this half term, I have LOVED seeing and hearing what you have been getting up!!

Stay safe, Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

Thursday 21st May

Good Morning everyone! I hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful weather we have been having.

Why not start the day with a Joe Wicks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by day 4 of Superworm Maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-4-Superworm.pdf

For Literacy today I would like you to become one of the characters from the Little Red Riding Hood story. There is a link from yesterday to read the story if you don't have it. Once you have decided which character you want to be, I would like you to write something that they might say.

For example I might pick to be the Wolf and I might say 'I can't wait to gobble you up!'.

Use your sounds to help you with your writing and remember that at the start we have a capital letter, in between our words we have finger spaces and at the end of a sentence we have a full stop.

Some activities you could do this afternoon

- So we have been looking at the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood but what other stories have you heard before that have a wolf in? I'm thinking of one, and it has 3 little animals in it and they build houses to protect themselves from the wolf. Have you guessed it yet? It's the Three Little Pigs!

So I thought maybe you could make a house that is strong enough to keep the Big Bad Wolf out!

- Make a new basket for Little Red to deliver food in. Little Red needs a much stronger basket, do you think you could help her make one?

- Pick an activity from the Traditional Tales Home Learning sheet that you haven't already done.

- Tomorrow is Goldilocks Birthday party, maybe you could make some cupcakes/biscuits ready for it.

Have a wonderful day, thank you for all your photos and emails! Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

Wednesday 20th May

Good morning everyone, can you believe it's Wednesday already and it's nearly the half term!

For starters, PE with Joe

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

For Maths today why not start with counting to 100 with Jack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbHobZOKY5w

Followed by day 3 of the white rose maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-3-Superworm.pdf

For Literacy today we are moving on to the next person the Jolly postman visited, can you remember who it was? That's right it was the wolf, dressed up as Little Red Riding Hoods Grandma!

Today I would like you to listen to the story, maybe you could have a go at sounding out and reading some of the words yourselves. After listening/reading the story, can you sequence it for me?

A couple activities for you to do today

- Little Red Riding Hood needs a new cape, can you make her one?

- Drawing a map to grandmas house.

- Building a forest and grandmas cottage.

Hope you have a lovely day and can get out and enjoy some of the glorious weather we are having at the moment! Love Mrs Goodwin

Tuesday 19th May

Good Morning Reception!

I hope you all managed to enjoy some of the lovely weather we had yesterday.

Let's start the day with Mr Wicks

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Followed by some Maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-2-Superworm.pdf

For today's literacy we are continuing the theme of vocabulary. We have done this activity in class before and it caused a lot of discussion and is really good for extending a child's vocabulary. I have attached the activity below, hope you have fun!

A couple of activities you could do today

- Cinderella needs a new dress for her book launch (a party to celebrate her book) and shes asked if anyone could design a dress for her and I thought I know just the children! You could colour it in, make a collage, maybe see if you have any scrap fabrics around. Remember her dress needs to be fit for a Princess.

- A nice activity around well being that you may wish to do is a gratitude jar, I have popped the sheet below. It is something that can be done daily or weekly. smiley

- If we had been in school we would have had a tea party on Friday to celebrate Goldilocks 8th Birthday. Why not make some decorations that you could hang up on Friday where you could have a tea party at home. Maybe you could make some bunting, or a happy birthday sign.

Hope you have a wonderful day, missing you, love Mrs Goodwin

Monday 18th May

Hello Reception, I hope you are all ok! So this is the last week of home learning before half term!

This week we will be wrapping up the stories in the Jolly Postman and the week will end with Goldilocks' party!!

To start your week, why not join Joe for some PE.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

For Maths, follow the link below for day 1

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-1-Superworm.pdf

For today's Literacy lesson we are going to be working on vocabulary (this is one of those posh words that we learnt!) The attached sheet has 4 characters from the story of Cinderella and you have to read the words and match them to the character you think they are describing.

Can you remember what the Jolly Postman delivered Cinderella?

He delivered her a letter from a publisher (someone who prepares and issues books), they were writing to tell her that they had made a story book of her life.

I want you to make the front cover of that book!

What really important things would you find on a front cover?

Go and find a book, have a look at the front cover to give you some ideas.

I can't wait to see your creations!

I'm missing you all lots, but a massive thank you for all the wonderful photos! Hope you have a fabulous day and manage to get some fresh air and remember to be kind, speak tomorrow, Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

Friday 15th May

Happy Friday everyone!

This morning why not try either or both a Joe Wicks (He does fancy dress Friday, have you been joining in?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Have you been doing any yoga? I find it really helps me to relax!

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

For some music activities today I have popped the link down for Out of the Ark, week 8, this weeks Friday song is called Join the Song.

https://www.outoftheark.co.uk/ootam-at-home/?utm_source=homepage&utm_campaign=ootamathome2&utm_medium=banner

Another music activity you could do is have a look at the Chrome music lab, there are lots of different activities on here, there's a voice spinner - you can record something you say and then change how your voice sounds, there's the Kandinsky tiles - where you draw different shapes and depending on where you draw them depends on the sound you create. Have a play around - apologise in advance grown ups it could get noisy!

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Experiments

I have popped the link to Friday's maths for this week if you wish to do it smiley

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-5-The-very-busy-spider.pdf

Today's RE activity is all about Jesus going back to heaven. This is called Ascension, I have attached a link to video you can watch with your child

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH-N6Erg5Xw

After watching the video could you make an Ascension collage with things you have around the house? Maybe you could use a white towel/bag for the clouds, remember you will need to make Jesus and his disciples.

Hope you have a great day and a lovely weekend! A big thank you for the pictures of the children - these are really making me smile! Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

Thursday 14th May

Good Morning all! I hope you are all ok today!

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Day-4-The-very-busy-spider.pdf

Today's activities are all about doubling!

A big thank you for all your wonderful wanted posters yesterday - they were fabulous and I've sent them to the Giant, I hope they help him find Jack!

For literacy today I would like you to imagine that you have been given some magic beans, your magic beans grow into a beanstalk but what is at the top? Anything could be up there, maybe there is a zoo, maybe there's a beach with clear blue water, maybe there's a massive sweetie shop!

Can you draw me what is at the top of your beanstalk and write me a sentence to go with it?

I can't wait to hear what is at the top!

Lastly today's RE is all about understanding the special gift of joy and peace that Jesus gave to the disciples and can give to us. I have put an attachment for this below smiley

Have a great day! Hope you can get out into the sunshine and enjoy some fresh air!

Love Mrs Goodwin

For today's literacy activity I would love for you to make a wanted poster! Jack has taken somethings from the Giant's castle and he is not pleased! He has asked me if I know any fabulous children who would be willing to help, so can you help me out? Thank you so much in advance!

Lastly I would love for you to make a Castle, you could (if your grown ups say it's ok) make a massive one using your sofa and some sheets or you could make one out of cardboard/odd bits you might have around the house. Maybe you could make a castle cake? Or maybe you could make one out of Lego/bricks, maybe you could make one using shapes you find around. It's completely up to you!! smiley

Have a great day! Look after yourselves, Love Mrs Goodwin

Tuesday 12th May

The spider has managed to catch some flies in her web, can you work out the questions?

For Literacy today I would like you to watch the story of Jack and the Beanstalk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvoJmMW-Wbo

After watching the story, use the story map attached and make sure that the story is in the correct order. Another Literacy activity you can do today is the rhyming words activity, if you don't wish to print them out you could write them out. I will pop these documents below. smiley

RE - Today we will be exploring the story of Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene, and the activity for today is to create a poster to show that Jesus is alive.

Remember you can do any of the activities from the Traditional Tales Home Learning sheet at the top of the page, I have split them into the stories and different activities that can be done.

I know that I will be making some bunting and hanging it in the window for tomorrow! Mr Goodwin and I might even have an indoor picnic/party to celebrate! Please send me any photos of what you create as I would love to see!

Hope you have a lovely long weekend together! Speak Monday, Love Mrs Goodwin smiley

For something fun - go out and make your witches potions in the garden! Remember to take some pictures for me! smiley

Tuesday 5th May

For maths day 2 of week 3

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Today you get to make some caterpillars, maybe Mrs Goodwin should have a go to!

So for today's literacy task, I would love for you to make a poster from a company selling things that a character from the story can buy, just like the witch received in her post delivered by the Jolly Postman. I will pop an example up so you can see what I mean. smiley

Art task - can you paint the witch for me? Think about what the witch is wearing, what colour hair has she got? Look at her face, what does she have on it?

Lastly on Friday it is VE Day, I will be posting some fun activities for you to do for this on Thursday but I thought the children could start to get ready for the celebrations by making some bunting or flags to pop in the window. smiley

Hope you have a great day, I am missing you all! Love Mrs Goodwin

Monday 4th May

Good Morning Everyone!

Welcome back to week 3 of the summer term, although it looks a little foggy this morning! Hopefully the sun will make an appearance later on.

If you don't have the book the link below will take you to a lovely animated version of it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75NQK-Sm1YY

For literacy today, I would like the children to pretend that they are the witch from the Jolly Postman and they have just received the letter which contains the poster from HOBGOBLIN SUPPLIES. They can use the order form provided to write down the items they wish to order, they need to remember to write down how many they want as well! I would hate for someone to only get 1 newt when they really wanted 6.

Finally time to get creative, can you build a house for the witch to live in? Maybe you could use some boxes, or create it from the sofa and a sheet, or make an actual gingerbread house. It is completely up to you smiley please send me a picture of your witches house though!

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/homelearning/early-years/Day-5-Night-Pirates.pdf

Finally you could pick an activity from the Traditional Tales Home Learning sheet at the top or yesterday when I was in school we create rainbows using kitchen roll, felt pens and water. I have attached a link of a video. Another activity we did yesterday was creating mosaics outside using chalk and powder paint, all you need is some masking tape or frog tape or duck tape (any will work) use this to create a shape on the floor and then within that shape create other shapes.

Once you have coloured in the shapes inside, peel away the tape and ta-da you will have created a lovely piece of art!

Have a great day and a lovely weekend!

Thank you for all the photos, please keep them coming as I am loving seeing everything that you are doing at home!

Love Mrs Goodwin

Today I have been in school and we decided to create a birthday message for Colonel Tom Moore.

Thursday 30th April

Good Morning Reception smiley

I hope you are all ok, staying safe and being kind to each other.

Some activity ideas for today:

Follow the link for day 4 Maths

https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/homelearning/early-years/Day-4-Night-Pirates.pdf

For literacy today I have attached a label the cottage sheet. The children can either cut out the words and place them in the correct place, or write them in the correct place. Encourage the children to sound out the words on the page.

Finally I have attached a bear document for you to look at. Talk through it with your child, then select one bear that you want to find out more about, do some research with your child and get them to write down between 3 and 5 facts about the bear and draw a picture of the bear you have chosen.

Hope you have a lovely day! smiley

Love Mrs Goodwin

Wednesday 29th April

Morning Reception!

Start the day with a Joe Wicks or a Cosmic Yoga, maybe both if you are feeling up for it!

For Maths follow the link and click on to day 3

For Literacy I would like you to look at the story of Goldilocks, your task today is to sequence the story. Making sure it is in the right order.

There are a couple of options for this task,

1) You can use the pictures and order them, writing a short caption.

2) You can retell the story, writing what happens at the beginning, the middle and then the end.

I will attach the sheets below.

Finally I would love for you to paint or draw me a picture of the Three Bears cottage. I have attached some pictures to give you a bit of inspiration! You all make beautiful art work so I can't wait to see what you create!

Have a lovely day, love Mrs Goodwin smiley

For literacy today I have attached a recipe for flapjacks, your job is to look at the recipe and think if we were off to the shop what would we need to buy? Can you write out a shopping list for me?

Finally I thought you could do some baking this afternoon, either make the flapjacks or create something else completely.

Hope you have a lovely day smiley

Missing you all, love Mrs Goodwin

Good Morning Reception!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy the weather!

I have popped the phonics for this week up, there are different games for each day like before.

For maths today I would like you to follow the link below and complete summer term week 2 day 1

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Send me any patterns that you create.

For literacy I thought you could have a go at writing a sorry letter from Goldilocks to the Three Bears. I have attached some materials below for this to help you.

Lastly, look at stamps that you need to post a letter. Can you create your own stamp?

Hope you have a lovely day and keep the photos coming, love Mrs Goodwin

Summer term - home learning

Hello Reception!

I hope you are all safe and well!

Welcome back to home learning, week 1 of the summer term.

I hope you had a lovely Easter Holidays, I know it was strange this year but I hope you managed to enjoy some family time and the lovely weather that we had!

So as before I will be posting activity ideas onto the web page, please do not feel pressure to do them all, they are just ideas for you to access should you wish.

I have absolutely loved seeing what you have been doing, thank you parents for sharing!

I will pop this weeks activities below for you.

Stay safe, love Mrs Goodwin smiley

Friday 24th April

Can you believe it's Friday already?

Today I have put up some links to music and PE activities as this is what the children would normally be doing on a Friday morning.

The music link below will take you to the Our of the Ark website which Mrs Dyer sent via parentmail.

Please go on to week 5, scroll down to Friday. The song is called Dang-A-Rang-A-Dang-Do! Listen to the song and do the activities.

https://www.outoftheark.co.uk/

This link will take you to the Cosmic Yoga home page, I thought it would be nice for you and your child to pick one to do.

youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

I have attached a picture of some practical maths that you could do today, subtraction bowling!

I just set up 10 toilet rolls (use whatever you have), wrote on the paper and found a ball to knock them down. The amount you knock down is the amount you are taking away.

If you have any playdough or want to make some you can play subtraction smash.

Give the children a subtraction question, for example 5 - 2.

Roll out 5 balls of playdough, smash 2, how many are left?

Finally go on a scavenger hunt, I have attached a document with 4 in for you to pick from.

Have a lovely day and weekend, I will be back on Monday, Love Mrs Goodwin

Thursday 23rd

For today's literacy lesson I would like you to help your child create a story map of the Jolly Postman,

I have attached a picture of one below. We have done this before in class and it is a great way for the children to remember the story.

I have attached some challenge questions for today's maths but you could use these tomorrow as well.

Below is a link for a video to watch the journey of a letter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pFd8DLcPIY

Watch the video with your child, maybe make your own letter to post to someone you haven't seen in a while.

Have a great day, hopefully you can all get outside and enjoy the fabulous weather!

Love Mrs Goodwin

Wednesday 22nd April

Today is Earth Day, I have attached an activity sheet below with ideas of what you could do.

I haven't put any maths or literacy activities up for the day, however if you wish to do some maths today then please do some singing number songs, watch zero to hero, look outside; how many trees/flowers can you see?

For literacy your child could make a poster of a way they could protect the world, writing some captions or some simple sentences.

I hope you enjoy doing some of the activities and please send me some pictures smiley

Stay safe, love, Mrs Goodwin

Earth day 22nd April

So our new book for literacy is the Jolly Postman, I have recorded the book, see below for the videos smiley

If you do have the story please read it with your child.

Today's literacy task is to listen to the story and see who the Jolly Postman visits on his journey.

Have you met these characters before?

We will be looking at the characters and books that are within this story over the next few weeks.

To get in the mood for our new topic you could set up a small post office and provide the children with writing materials, boxes/packages and let them become the postman.
